Currently serving as a Pediatric Surgeon and working at a local medical center, Dr. Colin Knight is dedicated to ensuring the safety and health of our children. After graduating from Yale University in 1991, Dr. Knight pursued his higher education at the University of Virginia. He then went on to become a flight surgeon in the US Air Force. For four years, he served as a primary care doctor for airmen and their families. He was also a human-factors expert who was able to analyze the cause of several plane accidents, such as the fatal crash of an F-16. He additionally supported the first Persian Gulf war by serving as an occupational medicine and travel doctor.
During his time in the Air Force, Dr. Colin Knight was able to regularly fly with his squadron and logged numerous hours flying other aircraft. He was also able to receive multiple awards. After he left active duty in 2000, he continued his training in general surgery at an area hospital. While he was a resident in surgery, he dedicated a year to carrying out ground-breaking research on the use of surgical robots in children's surgery. He also conducted studies on the use of surgical robots in microsurgical procedures and fetal surgery. After completing his residency training, he became a specialist in pediatric surgery at a hospital in Michigan. He was able to earn his board certifications in 2008 and 2006.
As he became more accustomed to the field of medicine, he started to work with his local community to improve the quality of life in his area. In 2010, he was appointed as the event chair for the "Chefs Up Front" fundraising event, which was held by the organization FLIPANY, which was focused on fighting against childhood obesity. He also helped raise funds for the organization by teaching local children how to cook. His extensive experience in planning and organizing events, as well as his passion for teaching others how to improve their health, have helped him excel in his career as a doctor.
In 2007, Dr. Colin Knight became a part of the team at the Nicklaus Children's Hospital after completing his training as a pediatric surgeon.
